Q. Why are residents from my state prohibited from entering this contest?
A: Some states, like Maryland, prohibit contests that charge an entry fee. We apologize for the inconvenience but we are bound by state laws.
Q: How do I pay the $25 entry fee online
A: Through our secure server you may pay the $25 fee with a MasterCard or Visa credit card. Our system is encrypted and your credit card information, once validated, is deleted from our servers for advanced security. Please have your credit card ready when you fill out the on-line entry form
Q: How do I send my picture on-line?
A: You may upload a picture during the course of your on-line entry. You will have the option to review the picture and change it prior to final submission of your entry fee. Make sure the picture you want to use is on your computer. It should be a Jpeg (JPG) or picture (PNG) file.
Click the 'Browse' button on the image page,
Locate and select your picture on your harddrive and
Click 'submit' to transfer the picture to the entry form.
Q: Why does the upload of my picture take so long?
A: The upload time for your picture is based on many factors including the size of the picture file, your internet connection speed, current traffic on the internet, and the speed of your computer. Be patient. It will upload. And you will not be charged until you are happy with the picture and your information.
Q: How do I know it worked?
A: After successfully submitting your on-line entry your screen will show a success page informing you of your successful entry. Please print this entry for your records - this is your proof of entry.
Q. Why is my credit card rejected, I know that it works
A: Typically when your card is not accepted this is due to the fact that the information you provide does not exactly match the information held on record at your credit card company. We are not made privy to the specific information that does not coincide, but our system will not process a credit card that cannot be verified for your own safety.
Kindly contact your credit card company to verify your information, or alternatively, please try entering via mail. We are unable to respond or help with these matters, again for your own safety - please contact your credit card company.
Q: I've read everything and tried it out but I am still confused...What should I do?
A: If you are having difficulty with the online submission, we suggest that you submit your entry through the mail.
Q: I have read all these FAQ's and I need to contact technical support
A: We provide email support for entry difficulties and refunds only. Our technical staff does not work with the judges and is unable to advise you on what image to use or what your chances to win might be. Please use this link to send an email if you are experiencing technical difficulty with your entry only.
Q. How many finalists are selected?
A. We judge all eligible entries and select twelve (12) Finalists to receive a three-day trip to New York City in August 2008. The twelve (12) Finalists then compete for the chance to win guaranteed modeling contract.
Q. What are the requirements?
A. Open to women (21 years or older) who have a daughter aged 8+ years (legal guardians are also eligible), who are both legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia (except residents of CT, CO, VT, ND, MD and PR). Daughters must be between the ages of twelve and nineteen as of July 10th, 2007.
Q. What is the deadline?
A. Contest begins April 1st, 2008 and ends DEADLINE EXTENDED - JULY 15, 2008. Online entries must be received by 11:59 p.m., E.T., on DEADLINE EXTENDED - JULY 15, 2008. Mail entries must be postmarked on or before July 10, 2008, and received by July 15, 2008.
Open Call Entry Materials must be received by times designated. Entries and photos become property of Wilhelmina Models and Family Circle and will not be returned.
Q. What type of photo should I submit? Can I enter more than once? YES!!!!
A. one (1) current photo of the mother and daughter preferably together. Photos must be at least 3”x4” but no larger than 8”x 10” (no slides, transparencies or photocopies) labeled on the back with the subjects’ names, and depict entrants’ appearance, personality and photogenic quality and vitality. Entries and photos become property of Wilhelmina Models and will not be returned. Entry forms may be photocopied and entrants may enter as often as they like, however, a separate entry form, photograph and processing fee is required for each entry.
Q. What are you looking for in the entrants?
A. We are looking for vibrant, photogenic candidates who are interested in the modeling business. There is no set formula regarding hair or skin color. We select the women we think are the strongest candidates from the photo submittals.
Q. What is an Open Call event?
A. The road to becoming a Finalist in the Family Circle®/Wilhelmina Model Search often begins at Open Calls, held this year in New York and Utah. At each Open Call, you will have the opportunity to enter the contest in person by filling out an application, submitting a current photo and paying a $25 processing fee (which includes a one-year subscription to Family Circle, compliments of Wilhelmina). If you don't bring a photo with you, have one taken on-site at no charge. Open Call participants also have the opportunity to meet Wilhelmina agents.
Q. Is there an advantage to entering in person at an Open Call event?
A. No. All entries stand an equal chance regardless of whether they are submitted by mail, online, or at an Open Call.
